Turn your ‘daily’ shower into an experience

Ever since I became a mom, the ‘daily’ shower has become a bit of an issue. I am lucky when I even get 10 minutes to shower, do my hair, eat breakfast, brush my teeth and get dressed. It is all a part of life as a mom. I have found small ways to make my shower so enjoyable, I look forward to it at the end of the day before bedtime {the only time I have found I can actually take a shower for the full 10 minutes!}.

Today I am sharing my tips with you on how to create a spa-like shower and feel pampered like the super-mom you are.
Turn your shower into an experience

Light it up. It only takes a minute or two to light candles and it changes the entire ambiance in the room. For Christmas, my husband got me a candle melt warmer and several different scents. I am not a fan of lavender by itself, but he got me a great blend called Calm and it is Lavender, Vanilla and Sandalwood. I light that one and a couple other candles that we keep in the bathroom just for baths and showers. It only takes a minute but makes a huge difference.

Candles for Shower
Warm towels. I love to put my towels in the dryer on just a fluff before I put my daughter to bed. I take them out and fold them up so they are still warm when I get out of the shower.

Play your favorite tunes. I would usually recommend soothing music, but you have worked hard all day, listen to whatever you enjoy. Put the music on your phone or splurge for an in-shower speaker {only $13  - money well spent} so you don’t have to have the volume too high and wake the kids, husband, dog, etc.

Use Organic cleansing products. I was given the opportunity to try Pura d’or Organic Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. I have always been skeptical about natural and organic products, but wanted to switch from our shampoos and conditioners that contain harmful ingredients like sulfates, parabens or artificial fragrances. I fell in love! Here is why I recommend using them:
  • Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Hair Loss Prevention Therapy Shampoo – First, this smelled amazing. Apparently the smell in this shampoo is the argan nut after it has been pressed {along with the combination of amazing, natural ingredients}. As far as the hair loss prevention, I have only been using it a week {and not consistently..again see ‘daily’ shower} and I have seen a decrease in my shedding. Yes, my hair is all over the house…it’s worse than a dog. But I have seen much less hair on the shower wall during washing – only time will tell how great it is.
  • Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Conditioner, Lavender Vanilla – If I thought the last one smelled great – this one is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! It is said that it should manage frizz and increase shine. I don’t do my hair enough to be honest about that {and I am always honest in my reviews} but my hair has been so much softer. The smell alone takes me away to a spa, but then I come out with softer hair! Win Win!
In full disclosure – my hubby loves these too. He even commented on how much softer his hair was and how amazing the smell was. Now I can’t get him to finish the other stuff….
Scrub down. Use a great loofah. I tend to change mine out often because I don’t feel it doesn’t do as well of a job once it has started to get loose. I use it without soap most of the time just to give the dry skin on my body a ride down the drain.

Turn up the heat. In the shower. I love ending my shower with what my husband calls ‘liquid magma’ heat. It gives me that extra special lovin’ before I get out. {with dry skin, I know this isn’t the best for me but I love it so much…so I do the next one..}

Oil yourself up. As soon as I get out of the shower, I pat myself dry – that is important – and apply oil to my skin. The oil helps moisturize as well as seal in the moisture in your skin from the shower. Some of my personal favorites are coconut oil {and you smell delicious} and kukui nut oil {found this in Hawaii in 2000 and my life has never been the same}. I would assume you could use any type of oil, even argan oil although I have never tried it personally but it looks like it would do the job and is an all natural option.

Robe up. What a great way to end this quick but amazing shower than wrap yourself in a robe. I have just an old terry robe that I love wearing out of the bathroom. I tend to go lay down on the bed and read blogs or a book. What a great way to end your experience!

From my experience these are the best ways that I give myself a pampered experience in the shower when I get one. Again, for moms, the ‘daily’ shower is something that we all look forward to and don’t always get the luxury to get. I hope that you can incorporate even just one or two of these to make your shower more enjoyable and one that you deserve.

Happy showering!

*Disclosure: I received free product from Pura d’or in exchange for my honest review. I would never give a good review to a product I wouldn’t recommend.
