This is not the post that I originally had planned to post for you for St. Patty's Day, but some things are too good to hold back. So instead of green themed projects and a green themed food {which was the original plan} I am telling you about how to be green and naturally clean your kitchen, specifically your stove.
Our kitchen had not been deep cleaned in a while. Something inside of me clicked today and I NEEDED to clean. Thankfully my daughter understood me when I told her to take a long nap and let me clean - she gave me 2.5 hours!
Our stove was in disarray. I have only had one cleaner be able to get all of the grease, grime and stuck on nastiness off of our stove - and that cleaner required proper ventilation. In an effort to go green, I decided to try Mrs. Jones Soapbox's Soft Scrub on the mess. I reviewed the product back in December for the bathroom and it did an amazing job {you can take a look here} so why wouldn't it work on this job. And while I am super embarrassed to show you the state that our stovetop was in, I am happy with the outcome.
With little to no elbow grease, I was able to easily take up the mess that was there. I simply took a spoonful of the soft scrub and put it on the stove. With a warm, damp rag, I wiped the scrub all around the stove top. I let it sit for a minute or two and then wiped it up with the other side. As you can see, it all came off! I was so surprised/shocked/amazed, I stopped to take this exact picture {which is why the quality is a little off}.
I did manage to get the other side done too :). There was a little leftover film and streaks on the stove so I just sprayed Mrs. Jones Soapbox's Sparkle on the stove and wiped away.
It was the easiest way I have found to clean our stovetop. And the best part is that there are no harsh chemicals and my kitchen smelled good after cleaning.
Be sure to see how I am using green products through the next month with my Spring Cleaning coming up! I am sure you will see more of Mrs. Jones Soapbox too :)
Happy Cleaning!
